Your Child’s First Dental Visit
Infant and toddler dental care is the introduction to a lifetime of oral health. Grace Pediatric Dental Care fully supports the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for a child’s first dental visit by their 1st birthday.
At the first visit, the comfort of your child is our utmost priority. For our littlest patients, we will typically perform your child’s first exam while they sit on your lap. Dr. Efobi will discuss the best way to take care of your child’s teeth and the developmental milestones that you can expect. Our goal is to make it a fun and welcoming experience for both you and your child!

Teething
Teething is a process that can start weeks and even months before a tooth finally appears. Teething typically starts between 4-6 months of age but some babies will not begin teething until about 12 months. All babies experience teething in a different way but some of the common symptoms of include:

- Fussiness, irritability and crying
- Tender, swollen gums
- Desire to chew on hard objects such as your hand or finger
- Increased in amount of drool
- Interrupted sleep patterns
Grace Pediatric Dental care recommends the following things to help soothe your baby:
- Use clean, solid teething rings
- Cold water from a sippy cup
- Cool, damp cloth to massage gums
- Dry the excess drool to avoid skin irritation
Dr. Efobi recommends making sure that whatever your baby puts in their mouth is clean to maintain good overall health and wellness. If you have any questions about teething, contact our Grayson office.
